「高分子・ハイブリッド材料研究センター」（PHyMセンター）は2010年4月に多元物質科学研究所（多元研）の研究組織変更にあたり、新たに発足した研究センターです。それまでも多元研は、多元物質科学の研究拠点として、ハイブリッドナノ材料をはじめ、ナノテクノロジーに関する材料開発に関して多くの成果を上げてきました。そこで、研究組織変更を機に高分子およびハイブリッド材料の研究分野で優れた成果をあげていた研究室が参集し、「高分子・ハイブリッド系関連のエレクトロニクス分野、フォトニクス分野、エネルギー分野、情報分野、及びナノテクノロジー分野に供する新規機能性高分子・ハイブリッド系材料創製の学理と応用研究を行うことを目的」に、「高分子・ハイブリッド材料研究センター」が宮下徳治教授をセンター長として発足いたしました。その後、2012年4月より私がセンター長を拝命いたしました。
「当研究センター」は、高分子ハイブリッドナノ材料、有機ハイブリッドナノ結晶材料、ハイブリッド炭素ナノ材料、ハイブリッド材料、光機能材料、自己組織化高分子材料に関する特徴のある６研究分野の研究室から構成されております。詳しくは、本パンフレットおよび各研究室のホームページをご参照ください。当センターでは高分子・ハイブリッド材料研究センター独自のプロジェクトを進めるとともに、高分子・ハイブリッド材料分野でのシンポジウムや講演会を開催し、当該研究分野の推進、大学院生の教育、および若手研究者の育成にセンターの教員が一丸となって努力しております。
本年度も今までのセンターとしての活動を続けるとともに、学内外連携、産学連携、地域連携など幅広い取り組みを積極的に行う所存でございます。今後も産学官の多くの皆様の当センターの活動へのご協力、ご支援をお願い申し上げます。
“Polymer·Hybrid Materials Research Center (PHyM Center)” was established in 2010, when the research organization in “Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials (IMRAM)” was renewed. By then, the IMRAM had already made considerable achievements in the fields of hybrid nanomaterials and nanotechnology for material developments. It was therefore decided to assemble some of the laboratories that were especially active in the fields and to start a new research center in the IMRAM. The mission of the research activity in the PHyM Center is to promote the science and technology for polymer and hybrid materials applicable to various fields such as electronics, photonics, energy devices, informatics and nanotechnology.
The PHyM Center is comprised of six laboratories actively working on the research areas of polymer hybrid nanomaterials, organic hybrid nanocrystals, hybrid carbon nanomaterials, hybrid material, photo-functional material, and organized polymer materials. The details of the research activity of each laboratory can be seen in this brochure and more detailed information is available in their home pages. In the PHyM Center, great efforts have been now made not only to promote the research activity of the aforementioned scientific fields, but also to cultivate graduated students and to encourage young researchers, by organizing unique research programs, several symposiums and lecture meetings. In addition, we are planning to strengthen the collaborations with many other researchers from academic and industrial areas. We believe that this center will strongly contribute to the development of IMRAM and Tohoku University. As always, we appreciate your continuing support for the PHyM Center.
