Positions
Our lab develops functional molecules to study and control molecular mechanisms in living cells. Our goal is to contribute to life science and medicine by creating new molecular tools for visualizing, measuring, and controlling local chemical environments and biomolecular functions in cells.
Our research is based on organic chemistry and integrates protein science, cell biology, and optical science. Current topics include fluorescent probes, photoresponsive molecules, and molecular tools based on bioorthogonal chemistry.
We welcome students and researchers with diverse backgrounds. We value an interdisciplinary environment in which members learn from one another and pursue original research at the interface of chemistry and the life sciences.
Graduate Students
There are two main pathways to join our laboratory:
-
Graduate School of Science, Department of Chemistry
Suitable for students with a strong background in chemistry.
Admission Information -
Graduate School of Life Sciences, Department of Molecular and Chemical Life Sciences
Suitable for students interested in research at the interface of chemistry and the life sciences.
Admission Information
Please check the official websites of each graduate school for the latest admission information.
