Effect of interfacial deformation between electrode/electrolyte to solid-state Li-ion battery performance

Li-ion battery plays an importance role in nowadays mobile applications. However, Liquid electrolyte makes many safety issues. For next generation battery, Solid electrolyte offered more energy density, and more safety due to no thermal runaway. Nevertheless, lithation and delithiation cause a chemical expansion and shrinkage that directly effects to area contact surface is decreased. In other words, this behavior can degrade cell performance. In this research, mechanical disturbance was introduced to solid state battery for simulating a material deformation during a charge / discharge process in order to investigate an influence of deformation to electrochemical properties and an operation tolerance.
