International Workshop on Mineral Processing and Metallurgy 2018 (IMM2018) was held at Sakura Hall in Katahira Campus of Tohoku University on March 2nd and 3rd, 2018. The “IMM2018” was a kick-off symposium as the first step of starting of the new research organization: “Center for Mineral Processing and Metallurgy” which IMRAM will establish in this April, gathered 85 researchers of related research field. Professor Muramatsu, Director of IMRAM, made an opening remarks, and Professor Honma introduced the outline of the “Center for Mineral Processing and Metallurgy”. Subsequently, eleven distinguished researchers from the related research fields invited from world wide gave a lecture and discussed important issues concerning Mineral Processing and Metallurgy and research strategies. Also, twenty one poster were presented by multidisciplinary researchers including graduate students.
