It is regarded as one of the compounds most closely realizing the Kitaev model.<br \/>\nThe key to realizing Kitaev-type magnetic interactions is the superexchange exchange mediated by anions.<br \/>\nTherefore, we performed powder neutron inelastic scattering experiments on RuBr\u2083, which has the same honeycomb structure as RuCl\u2083, to investigate the anion substitution effect on magnetic interactions.<br \/>\nThe experimental results revealed that Br substitution stabilize the zigzag magnetic structure via enhanced symmetric off-diagonal magnetic interactions (\u0393 terms) or third-order nearest-neighbor magnetic interactions,<br \/>\nindicating that the system is actually driven away from the Kitaev model.<br \/>\nPerhaps \u201cRuF3\u201d would be better as a candidate Kitaev material, if any?
