SSI-21(Padua, Italy, June 18th-23rd 2017)体験記 (Writer:Mean)

Good Days readers!

It has been three months since my last blog for the conference. I am very excited to tell you a story of the 21st International Conference on Solid State Ionics which was held at Padova, Italy. Yes, Italy, One of the most iconic country at all time.  And, it was a perfect timing for the conference. Mid of June when the weather is getting hot and hot. The degree of discussion in the conference was hot too.

This time, Amezawa Lab’s members had received a great opportunity to deliver five oral presentations in total alongside with the experts in the field of Solid State Ionics all over the world. There were two pro presenters (Prof. Amezawa, Asst. Prof. Kimura) and three students (Gao2, Mizuno, and I). From the students’ side, we have a similar opinion, that is, it is an intense conference. But, thank you for our coaches (our profs.) who dedicated their times for polishing our presentation many times. We can pass them with a lot of interesting questions and comments.

In the conferences, I have learnt two things beside the state-of-art researchers in the conference; the importance of making a new friend, and how to make presentation interesting. First, talking to new people is difficult but after you tried. You will get a very nice response. We can each other share our thoughts more freely than the tough 15 minute of presentation. On the other hand, I have been thinking for all time what is the interesting presentation. Finally, I have seen many presentations in my interesting make a seamless story and easy to follow. That made me realized that there is room for improving my presentation.

After the conference time, we have an opportunity to walk around Padova City where the conference was held and Venice, which is our excursion trip. (Trust me these photos were taken at evening time after the conference is done.) Easy speaking, Padua is fulfilled with the historical sites and people are lively.

Venice is the must to visit. I think it is unnecessary to describe this beautiful place anymore…..

Last but not least, it is our great honor to our lab members to announce that our boss, Prof. Amezawa, was elected to be the secretary of the International Society for Solid State Ionics for the batch of 2017-2019 under the presidency of Prof. Yoo from Seoul National University and Prof. Takamura from Tohoku University, who will serve as a coordinator of Asia region. It’s time for celebration & for more hard work LOL.

I will leave my blog with this photo. Thank you Prof. Chueh from Stanford for taking this nice shot.

Until we meet again. Take care!!
